Five weeks of oil painting

I finished up my oil painting class earlier this month and have had my paintings drying around the office since then. This class was my first time touching this medium and it was so much fun to explore something new.

Grid of paint colors in loose squares

We started by mixing all the paints in our palettes and making the most satisfying grid with them all.

Moved on to underpainting, spending a class working in just one color.

Painting of a yellow pear on purple and green background

The third class was all about completing a painting in one sitting, starting with the underpainting and moving quickly on to adding color.

Painting of hydrangeas in a dog shaped vase on a blue and white background

The last two classes were spent on the same piece. And for me, the very last class was spent mostly by adding hydrangea petals to this painting with a palette knife.

Moment of appreciation for this leaf because I just adore how it turned out!
