Experimental Tolktober

I learned about Tolktober last year, when an artist I follow on Instagram participated in it. This year, I decided to try my own hand at some of the prompts and use them to explore a few different mediums.

Day #1. The Shire.

Perfect prompt to kick off the month with, perfect reason to practice oil paints, perfect excuse to look at photos from Hobbiton.

Day #28. Doors of Durin.

I’ve had this little table loom for a while now and this prompt was a great one to get to play with that. I really love how the pattern turned out with all of the different yarns.

Day #31. Pelennor Fields

I’m still playing around with this knitted landscape idea and Pelennor Fields prompt lent itself perfectly to that! I have so many little scraps of yarn that I've been holding onto for things like this and they came together so satisfyingly for this piece.

The most satisfying part for me is the golden mohair and the texture it brings to the piece.
